Journey To The North.

“There is more to Ghana than Accra”. These words never miss the ears of us Accra dwellers, and indeed it never should. It was my personal mission to travel this country and see other parts and boy, was I glad when two researchers ( Prof. Britwum, and Dr Akorsu) offered me the opportunity to go with them on their “data consolidation” mission up North (traversing Northern, Upper East and Upper West Ghana). My assigned job was to document photographically the various exchanges and interactions they had with farmers as they researched the impact of funded interventions. Here is a link to their research paper.

Dr Angela Akorsu and Professor Akua Britwum researched and published a paper on “Qualitative gender evaluation of agricultural intensification practices in northern Ghana”

A time to Plant

We made our journey in the early days of planting season and got to see some hard at work putting seeds into the ground. Maize, sorghum, and millet are the staple foods in most of the communities we visited.

A Culture of Hard work, A Spirit of Happiness.

The journey exposed me to the spirit and energy of very industrious people, working the land to overcome challenges that face them. I share some of the photos that really stood out for me.

In the end, the impressions have stayed with and have inspired the desire to travel more in this new year.
